Italian cuisine


Italian cuisine, known worldwide for its diversity and unique taste, offers many iconic dishes that reflect the rich cultural history and culinary tradition of Italy. From north to south, each region has its unique flavors and ingredients.

The world-famous pizza originates from Naples and has become a global phenomenon. Its simplicity, consisting of a combination of thin, crispy dough and most commonly tomato or cream sauce, allows for many variations. Pasta is another pillar of Italian cuisine. Italians have created hundreds of types of pasta in countless shapes and sizes, with spaghetti, penne, and fusilli being just the most famous. They are accompanied by a wide range of sauces – from the rich Bolognese ragù, through carbonara, to aromatic basil pesto.

Risotto represents another dimension of Italian gastronomy. This creamy rice dish can be tasted in many variations throughout Italy. We must not forget lasagne, a layered dish of pasta, meat, cheese, and sauce, synonymous with Italian family feasts.

Italy is also home to outstanding desserts. Tiramisu is a dessert of coffee-soaked biscuits layered with mascarpone. Gelato, Italian ice cream, is for me the best ice cream in the world.

Literally every region of Italy contributes to the national culinary wealth with its specific recipes and techniques that reflect local ingredients. Italian cuisine is not just about food, but it is a whole that includes history, culture, and the art of living – “l’arte di mangiare”, the art of eating.
