Bistro Roesel – Beer & Food: A Hidden Beer Gem Near Charles Bridge

Bistro Roesel – beer & food is located in the very heart of Prague, just a few steps from Charles Bridge and Malostranské Square, in one of the most tourist-heavy spots in Prague.

In a place where a cautious Czech would expect one tourist trap after another.

However, as soon as you step inside, you are immediately enveloped by the atmosphere of the interior with vaulted ceilings; add to that the friendly service and top-notch beer at a reasonable price. This is why I wouldn’t hesitate to call this establishment a hidden gem (but I promise I won’t throw this term around lightly 😉).

Yes, the interior of the establishment is spartan, and the furnishings are not the newest. But together with the vaulted ceilings, the small space, and my favorite hexagonal tiles, which I so love to see in these historic buildings, they create the genius loci of this place.

If you stop by the establishment on your way from a walk around Prague’s sights, you’ll have the opportunity to refresh yourself with excellent beer from Czech craft breweries. And all at a completely reasonable price (I might even dare to say that given the location, the price is rather low).

In the establishment, you can also taste the non-alcoholic beer Krystus, which I consider to be the tastiest non-alcoholic beer made in the Czech Republic.

The entrance to the establishment on the busy Mostecká Street is easy to miss, and you’ll probably go elsewhere for amazing food (a common destination might be the top-notch pork knuckle at the neighboring Pork’s), but for beer, Bistro Roesel – beer & food is an excellent spot.
