If you happen to get caught in the rain in Istanbul like I did, and you are in the Taksim district, I recommend taking shelter in a small restaurant called Hayri Usta Ocakbaşı Restaurant. The place is very popular among locals, but remains rather undiscovered by tourists. It focuses on traditional Turkish dishes. The semi-open kitchen is dominated by a charcoal grill, on which delicious dishes are prepared.

Grilled liver with perfectly seasoned bulgur, grilled pepper, tomato, and bread cost 100 TRY (5.40 EUR).

The main course was complemented by a deliciously seasoned vegetable salad. Service in the restaurant is pleasant and fast, and there are also a few seats in the outdoor seating area in front of the restaurant. And if you want to taste more Turkish dishes in a single visit to the restaurant, try the great-looking platter with various types of kebabs. You will leave pleasantly full and satisfied.
Bon appétit!
