Le Grill Restaurant: A Stunning Courtyard Garden in the Bustling Center of Prague

On the last day of the summer holidays, I visited the Prague restaurant Le Grill. It is a hotel restaurant designed for guests of The Grand Mark Prague, but it is also open to people who are not staying at the hotel. The hotel is located in the busy center of Prague, yet it boasts a stunning courtyard garden that is used by the restaurant. Compared to the hustle and bustle outside, the garden feels like an oasis of calm.

I must admit that I would not usually visit this type of restaurant. Hotel restaurants can sometimes feel a bit exclusive, and in the case of high-end hotels, even somewhat overly grand—especially if peacocks are strolling along the garden terrace, as they do here. However, I received a gift voucher that another family member could not use, so I went to the restaurant for lunch.

As an amuse bouche, they served broccoli cream with feta cheese—a thoughtful gesture I would not have expected when ordering from the à la carte menu.

It had truly been a long time since I had a hamburger in a restaurant. So I chose the signature dish—The Grand Mark beef burger with arugula, fennel, cheddar cheese, and smoked chipotle mayo. How was it? In a word: excellent. The meat was beautifully juicy, the combination with fennel was delightful, and the fries were pleasantly crisp. The burger with a generous portion of fries costs 390 CZK (15.60 EUR).

For dessert, once again I followed the recommendation and chose the signature one—The Grand Mark cake, a dark chocolate mousse with blackcurrant jelly. The slightly tart blackcurrant jelly hidden in the center of the mousse works beautifully with the chocolate. The dessert was outstanding, and the food styling was stunning. The price? 260 CZK (10.50 EUR).

I stayed true to the theme with the cocktail as well, choosing the signature drink—The Grand Mark Cocktail with gin, lemon juice, lavender syrup, and soda. The cocktail was truly luxurious, and as a fan of lavender flavor, I found this combination to be a brilliant drink. A cocktail I would gladly order again. The drink cost 280 CZK (11 EUR).

The total bill for the main course with dessert, a cocktail, and a large bottle of sparkling water was just over 1,100 CZK (44 EUR). That may seem like a lot. However, if you consider the truly beautiful garden, which offers absolute privacy and where city noise does not reach at all, the location in the center, and the fast and very pleasant service, I believe it is a good value not only for hotel guests.

Bon appétit!
