Le Grill Restaurant: A Beautiful Inner Courtyard Garden in the Bustling Center of Prague

On the last day of the summer holidays, I headed to the Prague restaurant Le Grill. It is a hotel restaurant intended for guests of The Grand Mark Prague hotel, but it is also open to people who are not staying at the hotel. The hotel is located in the bustling center of Prague, but it boasts a beautiful inner courtyard garden, which the restaurant makes use of. Compared to the hustle and bustle outside, the garden feels like an oasis of tranquility.

I must admit that I wouldn’t normally visit this restaurant. Hotel restaurants tend to feel a bit exclusive, and in the case of upscale hotels, perhaps even overly luxurious, especially when peacocks are strolling around the garden terrace, as they do here. However, I received a gift voucher that another family member couldn’t use, so I went to the restaurant for lunch.

As an amuse-bouche, broccoli cream with feta cheese was served. A nice gesture, which I did not expect when choosing from the à la carte menu.

It had been a really long time since I had a hamburger in a restaurant. So I chose the restaurant’s signature dish – The Grand Mark beef burger with arugula, fennel, cheddar cheese, and smoked chipotle mayonnaise. How was it? In a word, excellent. The meat was beautifully juicy, the combination with fennel was flavorful, and the fries were nicely crispy. The burger with a generous portion of fries costs 390 CZK (15.60 EUR).

For dessert, I followed the recommendation again and chose the signature dessert – The Grand Mark cake – dark chocolate mousse and blackcurrant jelly. The slightly tart blackcurrant jelly hidden in the middle of the chocolate mousse is a combination that works. The dessert was excellent, and the food styling was gorgeous. The price? 260 CZK (10.50 EUR).

I didn’t deviate from the norm with the cocktail either and chose the signature one – The Grand Mark Cocktail with gin, lemon juice, lavender syrup, and soda. The cocktail was absolutely luxurious; I love the taste of lavender, and in this combination, it made for an excellent drink. A cocktail I’d gladly have again. The drink cost 280 CZK (11 EUR).

The total bill for the main course, dessert, cocktail, and a large bottle of sparkling water was just over 1,100 CZK (44 EUR). It might seem like a lot. But if you factor in the truly beautiful garden, where the guest has absolute privacy and where no street noise reaches, the central location, and the fast and very pleasant service, I believe it’s a good deal not just for hotel guests.

Bon appétit!
