Where to Go for St. Martin’s Goose in Prague (2025)

Roast goose with cabbage and dumplings on St. Martin’s Day is one of the most beloved Czech culinary traditions. Alcron Restaurant

The St. Martin’s menu at one of the most renowned and prestigious Prague restaurants is St. Martin at Alcron restaurant. The menu includes goose liver pâté, kaldoun (traditional Czech poultry soup), goose confit, goose leg and breast, and for dessert, filled curd dumplings. The sharing menu offers a whole roast goose with a variety of side dishes.

Výčep Restaurant

Top-notch Czech cuisine in a modern style – that’s Výčep, currently my favorite restaurant in Prague. The menu, of course, includes goose leg, kaldoun (traditional Czech poultry soup), grilled hearts, goose crackling spread, and instead of the iconic caramel cream puff, a plum cake. Výčep Restaurant is listed in the Czech Michelin guide.

420 Restaurant

This year, 420 Restaurant, located right on Old Town Square, will also offer St. Martin’s goose, led by the famous Czech chef Radek Kašpárek (judge of the TV show MasterChef Česko). They will be serving goose leg with a selection of dumplings, kaldoun soup, and dessert. You can also look forward to crispy rolls from the local bakery.

Občanská Plovárna Restaurant

The St. Martin’s menu, served as a generous buffet, will be available at Občanská Plovárna restaurant. The selection includes duck liver pâté, confit goose leg, goose breast, barley risotto, and potato pancakes. For dessert, guests can enjoy apple strudel with raisins and cinnamon or a tartlet with plum purée.
Price: 1,490 CZK (59.60 EUR) for the menu, including a bottle of wine (if purchased by 15.10.)

Červený Jelen Restaurant

One of the largest pubs in all of Prague, the kitchen is run by the renowned chef Marek Fichtner. The St. Martin’s menu naturally features confit goose leg with Viennese dumplings, goose pâté or rillettes, and of course, kaldoun. For a sweet finish, sweet buns with goose fat and plum jam are served. Červený Jelen Restaurant is one of the stops on the Prague Beer Zoo.

Kamin Restaurant

Kamin restaurant is my discovery of 2023. Two brothers, together with their parents, present an impressive culinary show just a short walk from Grébovka. They bring experience from Michelin-starred restaurants, and since this is a new venture, the prices remain quite reasonable. Live music will continue even in 2025! A reservation is absolutely essential.

Kastrol Restaurant

Kastrol is a restaurant focused on rustic Czech cuisine. For St. Martin’s Day, they have prepared an extensive menu. For example, you can enjoy confit goose leg with cholent or with white cabbage and potato pancakes. For dessert, they offer potato dumplings filled with apple and cinnamon, sweet yeast buns with vanilla custard sauce, or chocolate cake with caramel. If you miss St. Martin’s goose on 11/11, here you can enjoy it until 16/11/2025.

Graf 26 Restaurant

Restaurant Graf 26 in Prague’s Smíchov district will offer delicacies made from Dithmarschen goose. The menu will of course feature kaldoun, goose leg served with spinach and cranberry stuffing, or breast with Jerusalem artichoke purée. For dessert, a yeast bun with poppy seeds will be served. The restaurant has only 26 seats, so booking is absolutely essential here as well.

V Zátiší Restaurant

Restaurant V Zátiší is one of my favorite places to eat in Prague. It recently underwent a successful renovation. The St. Martin’s menu will feature kaldoun with smoked egg yolk, roast goose with red cabbage, potato dumpling, and blackcurrant; and of course, there will be something sweet to finish.

The Artisan Restaurant

The Artisan is dedicating two of its Sunday brunches to the theme of St. Martin. With unlimited buffet dining, guests can sample around fifty different dishes, which can be complemented by alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages.

Na Kopci Restaurant

Excellent Czech and French cuisine – that’s Na Kopci Restaurant. For St. Martin’s Day, head chef Titus Eliáš has prepared goose kaldoun soup with liver dumplings and herb noodles, smoked goose breast with roasted beetroot tartare and marinated pumpkin with lovage mayonnaise, confit goose leg with red raisin cabbage, chestnut and potato dumpling with smoked meat, and a tempting pear and plum crumble with almond streusel and vanilla ice cream.

Mlýnec Restaurant

Top-notch cuisine, beautiful interiors, and an incredible view of Charles Bridge. Mlýnec Restaurant is including a seven-hour confit goose leg with stewed savoy cabbage, wine sauce, and a small fried dumpling on the menu throughout November.

Kuchyň Restaurant

Goose feast is also being prepared by Kuchyň Restaurant. The special menu will be available even before St. Martin’s Day, naturally featuring goose leg and breast, pâté, or roasted red cabbage with goose foie gras. Kuchyň is the perfect choice if you are in Prague as a tourist and want to eat near Prague Castle.

U Matěje Restaurant

Czech cuisine by Honza Punčochář, judge of the MasterChef Česko competition. Goose will be served this year as well! The St. Martin’s menu will feature goose kaldoun, goose heart terrine, goose foie gras with beetroot and fig chutney, and of course, goose leg with onion sauerkraut with bacon and potato dumpling.

The Eatery Restaurant

Only on St. Martin’s Day, the renowned restaurant The Eatery will be serving a themed menu. They have prepared goose pâté, kaldoun, fire-grilled goose breast with marrow dumplings, and for dessert, a no-bake cheesecake with apples, pistachios, and condensed milk ice cream to delight your taste buds.

Lokál Restaurants

On 11.11.2025, the Lokál chain of Prague restaurants will be serving roast goose, and on the weekend of 15th – 16th November 2025, a true goose feast. No reservation is needed at Lokál Dlouhááá, and Lokál U Jiráta does not accept them all year round, so if you want to try your luck without booking, maybe fortune will smile on you here.
