Mlýnec Restaurant, Prague (2): Lunch Menu
Mlýnec Restaurant is one of my favorite places in Prague. It's the combination of the quality of the food, the pleasant setting, the service and above all the absolutely stunning view of the Charles Bridge. The lunch menu, on which Mlýnec serves three courses for 495 CZK (20 EUR), is another reason it keeps drawing me back.
Foie gras, figs, currants, red peppercorns and a port wine emulsion as a starter. An excellent combination, and the portion was so generous that I would have been happy with half of it.
The main course was veal tenderloin with polenta, broccoli, a prosciutto chip and mushroom sauce. Mlýnec knows its way around steaks - the meat was tender and juicy, the polenta beautifully garnished.
And finally dessert - carrot cake with sea buckthorn sorbet, quark and walnut. Sheer perfection, and to my mind the tastiest carrot cake I have ever eaten.
If you haven't been to Mlýnec yet, give it a try. Mlýnec is a great pick when you are looking for somewhere to have lunch in Prague. The food is superb, the view of the Charles Bridge enchanting, the setting beautiful and the value for money very good.
