Bún Riêu Cua: Soup with Crab Meat

Another interesting soup that can be tasted while wandering around Prague's Sapa is bún riêu cua, or noodle soup with crab meat. I only know about the Sành Quán bistro where they prepare this soup, but it is possible that you will discover more.

The basis of the bún riêu cua soup is a broth made from freshwater crabs and tomatoes, complemented by lots of spices and herbs. This time I had the "maxi" version, which includes crab meat, fried tofu, thin slices of beef, and snails. They also brought me a bowl of chopped salad and herbs. In this bistro, they have homemade chili glasses on the table, which really burn a lot. With a little chili and freshly squeezed lemon juice, the soup is pleasantly refreshing and has the right kick. The portion costs 190 CZK (7.60 EUR).

At the Sành Quán bistro, you can also try another non-traditional dish - rice noodles with fried tofu, pork belly, stuffed pork intestines, chả cốm meat, and vegetables and herbs. The portion costs 250 CZK (10 EUR), and if you want to try something unusual, this tip is just for you.

You can find the Sành Quán bistro on the edge of Sapa near the Buddhist temple and my other favorite establishment Chè Sài Gòn, which offers Vietnamese chè desserts.

Bon appetit!
