Sweet Portuguese tigelada

Dan Špaňhel Portugal Updated No Comments

Tigelada is a typical Portuguese dessert made in a wood-fired oven, baked in a ceramic bowl. The recipe includes eggs, milk, flour, sugar, lemon, and a pinch of salt. In the village of Proença-a-Nova, a tigelada festival is held annually.

I had the opportunity to try tigelada on the outskirts of Porto, in the Foz do Douro district. It is so popular that it can be bought, for example, in supermarkets, with one serving costing 1.10 EUR. And how does it taste? Pleasantly sweet, fluffy, with a noticeable egg flavor.

Tigelada is ideal as a small snack that provides enough energy, for example, for a walk along the wild Atlantic Ocean coast.

Bon appetit!
